WORLD CULTURE MILL.

Museum building.

Museum building in Oslo

What should the building of the Museum of Art, Architecture and Design be like?
It should be a message building. building as the tool and the program. It becomes an exhibit and a global community of artists, architects and designers. Several architects, industrial and graphic designers develop architecture of the building, each of them resposible for a separate level. These levels comprise the building of the museum – World Culture Mill in Oslo.

Concept

The old legend and the arms of Oslo become a basis for a new symbol. The millstone becomes a sign and also a fundamental scheme of the museum organization.
The building in the form of a cylinder made of several disks is laconic and simple. A circle layout arranges circular horizontal movement at each level; a square is a functional core of vertical communications.
Instead of one star Oslo receives at least several. Five millstones – five architects, plus invited industrial and graphic designers for designing furniture, accessories and navigation.
